ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadine Styrene)

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadine Styrene) plastic was born in the 1940s. It is a copolymer of three monomers, acrylonitrile (A), butadiene (B), and styrene (S), based on the modification of polystyrene resin. Acrylonitrile (A) makes it resistant to chemical corrosion, heat, and has a certain surface hardness; Butadiene (B) gives it a rubber like toughness; Styrene (S) gives it rigidity and fluidity. ABS has the synergistic performance of three components, with good comprehensive performance, commonly known as "super non breaking glue". By changing the relative content of three monomers, different types and properties of ABS resins can be produced, such as heat-resistant ABS, high resistance ABS, high gloss ABS, etc. ABS products are formed by extrusion molding, injection molding, and thermoforming. ABS is a thermoplastic material.

Advantages and disadvantages:

The shrinkage rate of ABS is 0.4% to 0.7%, and the suitable wall thickness is 1.8 to 2.3mm. Based on the development direction of appearance, comfort, safety, and lightweight, ABS modified products continue to emerge, such as heat-resistant ABS, low odor ABS and alloys, low gloss ABS alloys, blow molded ABS, electroplated ABS, and anti-static ABS. Application areas:

① The car. Front grille, dashboard, steering wheel, air conditioning vents, glove box, interior components, etc.

② Office equipment and household products. ABS is widely used to make exterior components for storage enclosures, computers, fax machines, copiers, household vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, kitchen utensils, and other devices. The INS embedded injection molding process uses ABS or ABS/PMMA as the film material.
